Procedure to upgrade to 14.04 from 13.10 until it fails is Step 1. Start "Software Updater" After it has run a dialog box comes up and says: "The software on this computer is up to date. However, Ubuntu 14.04 is now available (you have 13.10) Step 2. Click on the "Upgrade..." button next to the "OK" button. Next I get the normal "Authenticate" dialog box and put is my password then click on the "Authenticate" button. Step 3. The Release Note dialog box comes up and I click on the "Upgrade" button Step 4. "do-release-upgrade" tool starts Step 5. then the "Distribution Upgrade" starts then stops with another dialog box saying: "Third party sources disabled Some third party entries in your sources.list were disabled. You can re-enable them after the upgrade with the 'software-properties' tool or your package manager." Step 6. Click on "Close" button to continue the process. Files are Fetched Once all the files are Fetched something goes wrong Step 7. A new dialog box comes up and it reads: "Could not calculate the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade. This can be caused by: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unoffical software packages not provided by Ubuntu If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal." Step 8. "Close" button on dialog is clicked to end procedure. Restore Original State of System
