This is happening for me on an HP/Compaq ProLiant DL180 G6

$ sudo lshw -businfo -C network
Bus info          Device     Class      Description
===================================================
pci@0000:07:00.0  em1        network    82576 Gigabit Network Connection
pci@0000:07:00.1  em2        network    82576 Gigabit Network Connection
                  bond0      network    Ethernet interface

em2 randomly sometimes appears as "rename3" at boot time.
