A system update and reboot seems to have fixed the issue for me.

There is another issue with ALC892 that causes a "headphones" output to
flash in sound settings. The workaround is to actually connect
headphones to the subwoofer jack and the "headphone" output will
disappear. The fact that I had headphones connected to the subwoofer
jack when I rebooted might also be the reason it worked.
