Happened again this week, twice. Tonight I've closed all apps -the laptop was responding, only the NetworkManager was locked up, frozen in a half-turn of it's green slashes. In a terminal 'top' would list wpa_supplicant as using 100% resources. Then I've chosen System / quit - shutdown, and went through the shutdown procedure.
The ubuntu logo showed up, the slider run a bit, then the splash disappeared and printed: Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD Daemon avahi-daemon Failed to kill daemon: timer expired umount2: Device or resource busy umount: /dev/sda8 busy - remounted read-only mount: / is busy After a while the words: Will now halt got appended, but the machine did NOT halt. I had to push the power button for a few seconds for that. I cannot "try out" gutsy because this is the laptop where I work. I am willing though to try out a backport of Gutsy's wpa_supplicant. Also next time it locks up I'll try to backtrace it. -- wpa_supplicant locked up consuming 100% resources https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/110158 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
