can you access shares which doesn't ask for password (isn't protected)?.
I just try to recreate this bug and couldn't, but i remember some time ago have 
similar issues with samba shares and nautilus, but now all works ok.

which version of nautilus and samba are you using?, could you check if
you're really reaching the other server, at the server's samba logs
should appear something about the connection.
