Thanks - Debian/Ubuntu packages are patched in order to compile, it
looks like you are manually trying to compile the upstream code without
the debian patches.

Upstream releases code, then Debian takes the code and patches it so the
packages build properly in a policy-compliant way. Compiling the
upstream code and compiling the Debian package are two separate things,
and these bug reports only refer to the Ubuntu packaging, not compiling
upstream code.

When you build a package on debian based system, use "debbuild" or
"dpkg-buildpackage" instead of qmake && make. The readme comes from
upstream, while debian building comes from us.
