The suggested kernel patch pointed to by kurt (http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/5/8/510) was added to the mainline kernel in 2.6.22.2 and is in Gutsy.
Therefore if this issue is still occurring on Gutsy Tribe-5 we need to look more closely.
