Hi Brian: Actually the problem was with the Ram.
I removed the newer stick that I purchased some time ago and ran the installer again...No PROBLEM. The ram check indicated that both sticks were ok....... hmmmmm I tried many times different distros then I did the ram thing remove one stick...and I can install anything after that. Hope all is going well. Thanks for the good work on Ubuntu. Can't wait for the phone to come out.
