Well it is exactly like Steve said, the LDAP manager password which is
queried by debconf during the install of slapd is simply not written to
/etc/lapd/slapd.conf . Thus any authentication to the LDAP database with
tools like ldap-account-manager will fail. Furthermore the base entries
are also not written to the config file.
