Same as above, this is still a problem when installing 14.04 final beta from a USB stick created with either unetbootin or ubuntu's own Startup Disk Creator. Same solution as above worked for me.
I want to recommend Ubuntu to my friends who are discontinuing Windows but it's hard to believe I have to give them these special instructions so that they can install it from a downloaded ISO and a USB stick. I hope it is clear that this is a very very popular path for installation and it should not be broken. It's surprising this has been an open issue for over three years. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/658865 Title: Install from USB fails: "An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the CD failed" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/estobuntu/+bug/658865/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
