To get a visible nm-applet that doesn't think my wireless card is wired, I need to do the following:
sudo killall hald sudo -u haldaemon hald sudo NetworkManager -- nm-applet vanished from tray https://launchpad.net/bugs/43379 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
