I confirm this problem. I am running VMWare Server 1.0.3 from Feisty commercial repository. Both host and guest system are running Ubuntu feisty, they can ping each other but all the other services (http/ftp/ssh ....) are not accessible between them.
The command "sudo ethtool -K eth0 sg off rx off tx off tso off" mentioned by drink can solve this problem.
