Public bug reported: When the path starts with a tilde (~) tab completion doesn't propose files. It works fine with bash 4.2 and is a regression in 4.3.
TEST CASE: 1. Open a terminal and type: $ cat ~/.b<TAB><TAB> ACTUAL RESULT: Only directories are proposed. Completion works fine with an absolute or relative path instead of '~' EXPECTED RESULT: Directories and files are proposed ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: bash 4.3-2ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-14.34-generic 3.13.5 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-14-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.13.2-0ubuntu5 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Thu Mar 6 10:28:31 2014 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-09-03 (183 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Alpha amd64 (20130902) SourcePackage: bash UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: bash (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1288630 Title: tab completion doesn't propose files when path starts with a tilde (~) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bash/+bug/1288630/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
