Terry Relph-Knight, did this problem not occur in a release prior to
Trusty?

** Description changed:

- On boot Ubuntu 14.04 does not always initialise the keyboard or mouse
- correctly. So a logon password cannot be entered. Sometimes if the mouse
- pad is working it is possible to switch to the guest account and then
- back to a user account to get the keyboard working. Sometimes after that
- the mousepad stops working.
+ With my Dell XPS M1210 Model PP11S, on boot Ubuntu 14.04 does not always
+ initialise the keyboard or mouse correctly. So a logon password cannot
+ be entered. Sometimes if the mouse pad is working it is possible to
+ switch to the guest account and then back to a user account to get the
+ keyboard working. Sometimes after that the mousepad stops working.
