Public bug reported:

I have a Toshiba S55 A5176 laptop.
The Grub2 menu shows up ok.

But the only way that I am able to boot Ubuntu 13.10(live or installed)
is if I disable the NIC(using BIOS). If the NIC is enabled, then the
screen stays black.

I am however able to boot in Fedora 20 almost every time. Sometimes, the
same issues happens with Fedora too.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
