Post #1 of the above thread is about how to enable the WiFI, Post #2 is a crude 
workaround for the Fn+F2 keys.

Hope it gets permanently fixed before next LTS (14.04) is out. It has
already been embarrassingly long since this problem has been reported
(Bug #1173681) but not fixed.
