It worked after I disassembled and reassembled the wireless module on the board of 201208-11455.
--- I happened to have a machine (CID 201304-13408) which have very similar wireless module [1] and it works on 12.04.4. So I tested the wireless module of 201208-11455 on 201304-13408, the wireless worked on 12.04.4 Namely the wireless module hardware work normally. Then I put the wireless module back to 201208-11455, the wireless worked [2] Thus I may regarded it as an assembling quality and not a real bug anymore. -- [1] they have the same pci id but different sub-system ID [1028:0208] on 201304-13408 and [1028:0209] on 201208-11455 [2] however ifconfig didn't show the wireless interface until you manually started network-manager. There might be the other issue but it is not in our current scope. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Opinion -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1209179 Title: [Dell inspiron 5323] Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter [168c:0032] is not enabled for 12.04.2, 12.04.3, 12.04.4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1209179/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
