The changes in the package are too many to list here. Basically the old
version hardly works on any cards, while the new version is quite
useable for many cards.

This package is included for testing only, and only makes sense if it is
reasonably up-to-date with the current development version. It is only
used by people who would know what they are doing, and not for
production use. Installing the package does nothing to your system, you
would have to manually configure xorg.conf to use it.

I think the release of this package must be treated a little outside the
normal freeze exception process. The alternative to not update it should
be to remove it from the distribution, which would not be fair for the
upstream developers and the Ubuntu users who want to help them.
