Hi everyone, I can confirm this problem with a HP nx5000 laptop. The "bounce method" mentioned seems to fix the problem for me, however it is a bit annoying that the serial port is noch initialized correctly on boot. I'm on Feisty with kernel 2.6.20-16-generic.
