I have the same issue on a HP Photosmart D5160. Don't use print-to-cd very often, but this is a long-standing bug (since printer was new). I only managed to solve this by inserting a small dot to print off the bottom and left of the disk.
The Original Poster mentioned Evince and LO, the error is also apparent in printing from scribus.
