Uh, just figured out something (10 minutes later): I got this working for one Google calendar by opening the calendar properties screen and setting an email address for that calendar. This setting was new on this screen after having turned ON the flag for calendar.google.enableEmailInvitations in the config editor. Once I did that, at least for one invitation I had, I was now able to pick that calendar from the pop-up window.
