Public bug reported:

On fresh install of ubuntu 14.04 password filed is not active on lightdm. Even
selecting it with mouse won't help. As workaround,
usually selcting keyboard layout and then selecting password field will allow
typing password.

Now, i found other workaround:
sudo apt-get purge lightdm
sudo apt-get install lightdm

this will remove some dependencies which probably couse this issue. One
of this dependencies is lightdm-remote-session.
