rrich1974, the bug has been fixed upstream, and it seems that the
updated package is already available in the development version of
Ubuntu (14.04, to release in April). It's not immediate to update a
library like the one responsible of this bug in a stable release because
you never know what type of secondary effects it may have and you don't
want to fix one thing and break others in a stable release.

But if you think that the fix does not have secondary effects and there
is a case for bringing it to a stable Ubuntu release, you can apply for
a stable release updage (SRU). The instructions are here:
