CONCLUSION SO FAR:
------------------------------------

1. Applying the Thinkpad dock / undock scripts from comment #34
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1269777/comments/34)
seems to make the system more robust.

2. Eject of the ultrabay (which I do with this script from comment #36:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_hotswap_Ultrabay_devices#Script_for_Ultrabay_eject)
brings back the ata2 device (DVD) and eth0

3. Booting the machine with

- BIOS:
      SATA: AHCI,
      POWER: PCI AUTOMATIC
->> POWER: PCIE power management OFF /DISABLED

seams to solve the problems and lead to a stable system.

4. Booting the machine with

- BIOS:
      SATA: AHCI,
      POWER: PCI AUTOMATIC
-->> POWER: PCIE power management AUTOMATIC (!!!)

leads to an unstable system. Hard resetting links occur, when the
machine is idle, not on dock / undock events any more (undock script
comment #36)

So folks ... what now?
