I've encountered the problem on Quantal 3.5.0-26. :-( My next tack is to try an earlier Quantal version - based on the bisection idea. However, I have a niggling question. You said "Would you mind testing a Quantal kernel in Trusty ...". How exactly? I'm guessing my base version is Saucy (Ubuntu 13.10)
