I can confirm this, though in my case, I'm using 3.13-rc5 kernel plus Trusty's qemu-related packages.
The following command works (though gives no isa-debugcon output): qemu-system-x86_64 -M pc -m 5120 -boot menu=on -monitor stdio -chardev stdio,id=seabios -device isa-debugcon,iobase=0x402,chardev=seabios -bios /usr/share/ovmf/OVMF.fd The following command hangs: qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm -M pc -m 5120 -boot menu=on -monitor stdio -chardev stdio,id=seabios -device isa-debugcon,iobase=0x402,chardev=seabios -bios /usr/share/ovmf/OVMF.fd -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1266746 Title: x86_64: Fails to start using EFI firmware To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/edk2/+bug/1266746/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
