Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.17-7-generic

Sorry, probably I didn't get the idea and I'm wrong ... However my
problem is about the introduction of "generic" kernels. Since in version
number they're newer than "specified" kernels (eg 2.6.17-6-i686, and
also eg AMD64) grub also treat as the "current" ones. however I would
like to use a better optimized (for my CPU) kernel and I don't need this
"generic" kernels at all. Maybe it's an issue for grub or something: how
can I make a "favour" (I mean like i686 version) of kernels as the
current one, even after having a "generic" (or other) kernel with higher
version number? I'm quite sure that I've missed something here tough, so
sorry in advance :)

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
