I haven't tried any upstream kernels since I just automatically update
to the latest kernel in the Ubuntu Mainline PPA with a script. All 3.13
rc kernels and even the new 3.13-generic which is now in Trusty stable
repos have the crashing issues with my two Radeon HD 6800 machines. I
found that if I disable DPM by editing /etc/default/grub and adding
radeon.dpm=0 to CMDLINE_LINUX that the crashing stops, so it is
definitely related to issues with AMD's Dynamic Power Management feature
in kernel 3.13. Something broke between kernel 3.12 and 3.13 in regards
to DPM but I wouldn't know what.

** Summary changed:

- Kernel 3.13-rc7 [AMD Radeon HD 6800] System Crashes and Reboots
+ Kernel 3.13 [AMD DPM] Radeon HD 6800 Crashes and/or Hangs
