FR. Loïc, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Xubuntu (as Ubuntu is more resource intensive in comparison)? ISO images are available from http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/308/builds .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number> As well, you may already be quite aware, but you are barely above the recommended requirements for a Desktop install as per https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/installation-guide/amd64/minimum-hardware-reqts.html . Hence, could you please further comment to each of these individually, as well as in combination, affect your issue: + Enabling swap + Enabling zram ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982310 Title: High consumption of ram in Ubuntu 12.04 - amd64, ext4, dpkg To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/982310/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
