I use advise #8. I uninstall unity-scope-home and again install it. WARNING: I was not able install unity-scope-home from software-center. I had to download unity-scope-home_6.8.2+13.10.20131003-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb from http://www.ubuntuupdates.org manually and install it by command line.
