This bug is a duplicate of bug number #80893. Please go to this page,
you will find that there is a workaround for the bug that helps most
people. It consists of changing HIBERNATE_MODE in the file /etc/default
/acpi-support to "platform".
Other than that, I agree that of course this bug should be fixed, but
* the status of the original bug is "confirmed" with importance "medium". at
least...
* it's not a security related bug, which is why it is not patched after the
beta phase. the risk of introducing regressions when changing central parts of
the system is just too large. Very well possible it will be fixed in 7.10.
