This analysis is correct, tilda will start without real transparency if
this is not supported by the window manager. Unfortunately there is not
much that can be done in tilda. This is a problem of the startup script
or what ever mechanism is responsible to start tilda. If tilda is
started before compositing is active, then it just does not work.

I am closing this bug as Invalid.
