Seems to me multiple driver bugs could be causing this for different reasons. Nouveau <nv50 had issues under memory stress that are solved in saucy-proposed.
See bug #1247607 for more info. There's a really nasty kernel bug for nouveau that could cause problems too under memory stress for ALL nouveau cards. This is fixed in drm-next: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~airlied/linux/commit/?h=drm- next&id=9360bd1112d8874d21942e2ae74f5416b00a8db6 A precompiled drm-next kernel with the fix for nouveau can be found at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-next/current/ but please grab lidbrm-nouveau2 from -proposed too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1184451 Title: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1184451/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
