I am running Kubuntu Gutsy Tribe 4 (64 bit) on an HP Pavillion dv6204.
When unplugging (or plugging into) the laptop from external power the
screen goes almost black, but the workspace is still (barely) visible
(i.e. it's not simply going "blank"). It is *much* darker than I am
able to get when using the Fn+F7 keys (dimmer).
When I press Fn+F8 (lighten screen) keys, the screen immediately lights
back up to the lowest possible light setting.
