After upgrade to 12.04 LTS, resume after suspend results in no networking.
Unchecking "enable networking" and rechecking does nothing.
ifup/ifdown do nothing.
Networking can be restored with:
# sudo rmmod e1000e
# sudo insmod
/lib/modules/3.2.0-56-generic/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/intel/e1000e/e1000e.ko
Often pulling the network cable, and replugging, triggers the same
issue.
