I tested trusty-desktop-amd64 dated Nov 12, and it has the same problem. I could not test 13.04 without checking "Enable Legacy Option ROMs" in the BIOS. When I did that, 13.04 had the same problem. So I enabled Legacy Boot in the BIOS and both 13.04 (using legacy boot) and 13.10 (using UEFI while Legacy was enabled) had the same problem. I even tried Fedora Core 19 (Kernel 3.9.5) and it had the same problem.
