I have the same motherboard as the OP and an Nvidia graphics card with
the proprietary driver.

I didn't experience the problem after upgrading Kubuntu from 13.04 to
13.10 with 3.11.0-12. After upgrading to 3.11.0-13 a few days ago,
though, I have had the problem intermittently. Testing my system a few
times with 3.11.0-13, it was fine, but I've had the problem twice with
the system slept overnight. I'm currently back on 3.11.0-12 without a
problem.

In my case, the system wakes up and I can enter a few characters of my
password into LightDM. Then the system freezes. It's unresponsive to the
keyboard and mouse, and pinging it from another machine fails.
