Same problem here, clean installation of Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy and after the upgrades the clock disappears but the rest of the icons are still there. As stated in a previous post, running 'killall unity-panel- service' will bring the time indication back to the panel. Let's hope it stays after reboot...
