Did it work in previous versions of Ubuntu (before Feisty) without
kernel options?

Please include the minimal information as described here:

Also run the following commands from a terminal:
cat /proc/cpuinfo > ~/cpuinfo.log
cat /proc/modules > ~/modules.log
cat /proc/cmdline > ~/cmdline.log

Attach ~/cpuinfo.log, ~/modules.log and ~/cmdline.log to the bug report.
