Public bug reported:

Hi,

I installed Unity 8 from the Software Center on Ubuntu 13.10, along with
all main apps (web-browser, gallery...) just out of curiosity (I have no
coding abilities whatsoever).

But now, every time I boot my computer, I get two different network
indicators on my Unity 7 panel. The second one has a small lock on it,
and is the Unity 8 indicator. Whenever I run Unity 8 in a terminal and
then close it, the indicator disappears.

On a similar note, the same kind of mix happens when I receive a message
on Empathy. Phone and SMS appear in my messaging menu and the message is
treated as both phone call and SMS. This is more problematic because it
prevents me from opening a conversation in Empathy (even when I go
directly in Empathy, the window won't open).

I guess some parts of Unity 8 load at startup, but I don't which, how or
why...

But after all, it's very nice seeing these hints of future convergence!
