Public bug reported:

Since the upgrade to 13.10 two days ago my laptop goes into hibernation
mode when I close the lid. When I open it again it takes a couple of
seconds, then I login and find that I do not have a network connection
anymore. Also I am not able to re-enable the network connection via the
network-plugin in my panel. To do so I have to restart the entire
system.
