Public bug reported:

With Gusty using GNOME, clicking Quit -> Restart doesn't restart. It
closes the X server, blanks the screen and halts the machine. The same
thing happens when X crashes. I don't know if the machine is actually
stuck, or if it goes into text mode without turning the screen back on.
Since installing Gusty less than 24 hours ago, I have had to do several
hard reboots. I have an ATI Radeon X850XT PE with a 24" Dell monitor.
I'm using the proprietary ATI driver with XGL to run Compiz Fusion.
Sorry I'm not able to include an error message or something more useful.
I looked through the system logs, but couldn't find anything that stood
out, but then again, I'm not sure what to look for.

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
