The screen locking behavior still needs work in the latest edgy liveCD,
Sept. 5, 2006 build. The problem with the user being able to lock the
screen and not be able to unlock the screen has been fixed which is
good.

The edgy liveCD user is still presented with options to lock the screen,
in the screensaver preferences gui and in the logout screens. None of
these options however will actually lock the screen, therefore this is a
bug.

If a user of the edgy livecd creates a user account with valid password
and attempts to lock the screen, the screen will still not lock.

Finally, not too long ago it was possible to right click on a panel,
select "add to panel ...", and add the "lock screen" applet to the
panel. This no longer seems to be possible.
