Public bug reported:

When I press the "Scan document" button my scanner will be found and
successfully opened. When I press "Scan" nothing happens. The error
message in the console is:

*** unhandled exception in callback:
***   Can't call method "get_active" on an undefined value at 
/usr/bin/gscan2pdf line 4884.
***  ignoring at /usr/bin/gscan2pdf line 10249.
