I did a clean install of Ubuntu 13.10. Cups-pdf will only print a single, blank page regardless of the number of pages, or waht application is being printed from. I did the following from above: dpkg --purge cups-pdf ; apt-get install cups-pdf but that did not fix the issue. Reinstall didn't help.
