Hi. Had the same issues with ubuntu 12.04/12.10/13.04 on my laptop. The solution I found is to replace the kernel with the upstream kernel 3.9.0-030900-generic. It breaks the wifi , but that was fixed by installing the driver provided by Broadcom. It's been 3 days since my last freeze ... still in testing.
