I found the steps to reproduce this bug - the only way to restore the
ability to even have a messaging history is to flash with no-backup set:
phablet-flash ubuntu-system --no-backup
TEST CASE
1. send a text message to the device
- you should see the popup notification as well as an item in the message log
2. go to the messaging app, on the incoming message swipe the message from
right to left and select the 'delete' option
- the message should be deleted
3. send another text message to the device from the same source
- you should see the popup notification as well as an item in the message log
Currently after step 3 there is not a new item in the message log, only
a popup notification appears.
