The patch will be part of 3.12, and will find it's way to stable kernels as well. Ubuntu maintainers should take care of it being merged as soon as possible.
I'll resize my partitions so will do a factory reset and write up a howto about the whole process - just waiting for further info for fixing up audio. Legacy bios mode has a few other issues as well, it should be avoided.
