Public bug reported:

gvfs, or giobackend for duplicity, is unstable at best and will stop
uploading files after a few hundred megabytes or so. As such, backing up
to SMB/FTP/SFTP does not work well and backups are not fully created.

A way to solve this could be adding an option to NOT use gvfs and use
alternative programs such as ncftp, which duplicity uses without the
--gio argument, or backing up to a rsync server.

I'm using Ubuntu 13.04 and using version 26.0-0ubuntu1 of deja-dup.
