I guess it's a strange thing to do alright, but at the time, ldm2 used
to become unresponsive if you gave a wrong username/password.  The only
solution I could come up with was power it off, or do the above.  The
above sort of made sense as I was already on the command line.

I doubt any of our users would do it, so it's probably not a big deal.
However, it did work with the previous ltsp version and as I'm sure you
know, not everyone uses ltsp for thin clients in the obvious sense -- eg
I use it to pxe boot a bunch of ten of our TCP testbed servers
(disabling X) so some people may use it in other instances.

Up to you how highly you rate the problem, I just thought I should raise
it.
